In an ideal world, we would all use the same size of Veeboard corrugated edge board. They would be readily available off the shelf and mass produced to keep the cost down. That’s obviously not the case. The modern reality is that companies look to minimise their spend on packaging. Hence, corner pieces are in the majority of cases made specifically to order to meet a specific requirement – your product.

What lengths are available?
As a leading supplier in the UK and Irish markets, we do carry stock lengths that come off the shelf. Hence, we have a generic size to suit many requirements. However, more and more we now see a particular size, thickness and length specified to suit a specific product. Nowadays, people understand packaging better. Also, people know the benefits of using packaging better. Therefore, this is better to avoid making your product fit generic sized packaging.
What dimensions should we look at with Veeboard corner protectors?
There are three main dimensions to a Veeboard edge protector:
- Leg or wing lengths (the outside dimension of each side of the “V” shape).
- Thickness
- Overall length
The default, go-to size is 50x50x3mm, as it sits in the middle of the scale and is suitable for most standard requirements. Hence this is a great starting point. By downscaling to a smaller size of 35x35mm you could save over 15%, so it’s well worth looking at.
How about up-scaling to a larger size?
What if moving to a 75x75mm angled board saved you money also?
The additional cost of the Veeboard can be more than outweighed by downgrading other materials like cardboard boxes. The easiest way it to contact one of our sales team to do a review on your end of line packaging and do trials with the actual product.
The savings will surprise you.
